Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido
New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 1247cm
Posted on Friday 23rd March 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here
There is no fresh snowfall to report and we start with a mild morning. The sun is out, some high thin cloud and it is probably going to be a fine day.
And indeed, a fine run of days ahead with lots of sun forecast well into next week along with temperatures gradually rising (and possibly approaching mid-teens mid week).
Full on spring.

Not sure why, but my report got a massive amount of traffic/visitors yesterday - like, well over 10 times more than expected for this time of year. I wonder why. Perhaps a 'link in' from a major website or something. Anyway, if you are new here... haro! If you want to check out how the season has been here in Niseko, do look down at the bottom of this page to get to all the archive reports and of course you can also check that lovely blue tab near the top of the page that says 'Snowfall Analysis'.

Last Avalanche Report of the season today.
And I would like to extend my own big thank you and hearty 'otsukaresama deshita' to the very good folk involved in providing this important information.
Here it is...
Niseko Avalanche Report:
Niseko base 6am: -1℃, no snowfall, clear sky. Moiwa 800m: -3.5℃, N5.7m/s, no snowfall. Annupuri 1150m: -5℃, W5m/s, 440cm snowpack at 1000m. Hirafu peak: -1℃, light breeze, no snowfall. Coastal data: Benkei cape ENE6m/s, Kamui cape ENE3m/s, 1009hPa, 2.0m waves.
That’s a wrap for this season’s avalanche information.
We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the making of the daily report and everyone who has been trusting in the information for their mountain safety.
Our only hope is that the season would end safely without any accidents.
Still a lot of snow on the slopes, enjoy the Spring conditions and have a great end of the season.
