Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 30cm

Posted on Wednesday 19th November 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here

Good morning from Hirafu and just another slight dusting of snowfall to report, about another 1cm, and the thermometer hanging around that familiar 0 degrees temperature early this morning but it's just into positive numbers again now. There's lots of cloud around but some breaks in the cloud too at times and I was treated to a nice dramatic partly cloud-covered view of Yotei just before when I was out and about.

A few days back I mentioned that we might see warmer conditions towards the end of the week. Well, that still seems likely to be happening. Sun is due tomorrow and then unfortunately rain seems likely on Friday as the forecast stands at the moment, fingers crossed it might be cold enough for snow higher up.

Planned opening dates for the different resort areas on the mountain:

Niseko Grand Hirafu - Saturday 22nd November

Niseko Annupuri Kokusai - Saturday 22nd November

Niseko Village - Monday 1st December

Niseko Hanazono - Saturday 6th December

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Kutchan/Niseko. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
