Good morning from Niseko.
And a very good morning it is, with over 20cm of fresh snowfall to report. Yey!
Unfortunately, I also have to report that wind is preventing all top lifts from opening at the start of the day.
It is quite bright down at base though, with good visibility. Even looks like the sun might be trying to push through some clouds looking at the Niseko Village webcam...

Niseko Avalanche Report
Moiwa Mountain base -6℃, 40cm new snow. Moiwa 800m: -7.8℃, NNW9.6m/s, cornice and snowdrift development. Mikaeri 750m: -9℃, NNW2.9m/s, snow depth increasing, good visibility. Annupuri 1100m: -9.9℃, NW6.6m/s, strong wind after 2am, cornice development, 40cm new snow. Hirafu Hanazono 1000m: -8.4℃, NNE17.6m/s, NE25m/s from midnight till morning, snowdrift development. Coastal data: Benkei Cape NE14m/s, Kamui Cape NNE9m/s, 1008hPa, wave 3.6m.
We are in a wintery pressure system. Strong NE wind from midnight, over 20m/s N wind on the Hirafu side, formed thick wind slabs rapidly in Kozan no sawa. Avalanche risk is extremely high in Kozan no sawa and Annupuri Osawa over 1000m elevation. A large amount of snow has fallen from the mountain base to the top of the mountain today. Snow is excellent in the tree run but very deep. Getting out of there might be hard if you get stuck. Gate 1, 2,3, and 4 will be closed. Other gates are yet to be decided. Please listen to the patrol's instructions. Never enter strictly off-limits areas such as Haruno taki. There is a very high risk of losing your life.
This information is provided for the safety of the resort users. Be prudent to avoid accidents. We hope you will not underestimate the risk of winter mountains. This information will be suspended from tomorrow. Have a nice day.
