Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 159cm

Posted on Tuesday 12th December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here

It was feeling positive for a while yesterday morning with snow falling and giving places a bit of a fresh look, but in the end it didn't amount to much in terms of new cm. It seems like more cm of snow fell east of our location.

Certainly not enough to change our current situation. Having said that, for the record Hirafu is reporting 10cm and Hanazono is reporting 5cm this morning; the others are reporting 0cm.

It is quite cold this morning and (very) light snow is falling in places. There is snow on the forecast over the coming days and it looks like the best chance of some decent snowfall is around Sunday.

I have taken some bits of info off the list below as I simply cannot confirm some information to be correct. That kind of thing drives me nuts, and sometimes I even wonder if the vagueness and lack of updating is intentional. (Don't worry, I'll quickly calm down with some delicious toast). :)

Mumbling about numbers aside, the main story is that at this moment we do not have much snow and there are limited lifts and runs open.

I do feel for the people visiting and very much hope they can find their fun!
