Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 45cm
Snowfall at base this season 251cm

Posted on Tuesday 24th December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.

Morning from Naeba.

45cm since yesterday! Snow is forecast until this evening, so it looks like it will continue to accumulate.

It's a little windy and cold this morning, but visibility is good in the area in front of the hotel. The gondola opened a little while ago today.

The Dragondola is still suspended due to bad weather.

Over the last three days, we have had over 100cm of snowfall.... there will be plenty of powder at the summit area!

Some sunshine for Christmas morning, perhaps.

Grumble time. At the time of writing, the official website says that 4 lifts are operating. But the 'real time' map, also on the official website, shows 6 lifts operating. I think the real time one is correct.
