Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 6cm
Snowfall at base this season 914cm

Posted on Thursday 22nd March 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Naeba. I am happy to report that we got 6cm of fresh snow yesterday evening accumulating at the base. Sadly, however, the snow has turned to rain and things are looking quite damp out there! The wind has dropped off significantly, so it's quite calm today in the valley. We can expect the rain to continue until lunch time, with it easing off into the afternoon. The air temperature will be comfortably above 0°C today, remaining there until the skies clear on Saturday.

Looking forwards, we can expect precipitation through until Friday night, with above freezing air temperatures. From Saturday onwards, a belt of high pressure will move in from the north west bringing calm, clear and warm weather until at least Tuesday.
