Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 16cm
Snowfall at base this season 178cm

Posted on Tuesday 21st January 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.

It is a good morning!

The resort is reporting 20cm of fresh snowfall and I can add 16cm to my observed reports.

Very nice.

Feels like mid-winter this morning - not something that I have been feeling too much this season so far. I note that it is snowing nicely down in Yuzawa town too which is great to hear.

The downer is that wind is affecting some lifts this morning and it's a bit wild out there with limited visibility. The wind has been blowing the snow around too, so I am guessing there'll be area of more and less around.

As I write this just the Number 4 romance, Number 3 and 5 high speed lifts are moving. The top lift and Dragondola are closed and other lifts 'on hold' pending conditions. So best to check for the latest with the resort if you plan to be out today.

Tomorrow should be more settled with sunny skies. It'll be a good day!
