Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 156cm

Posted on Tuesday 23rd December 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The sun's out again... you know I’ve said it over the years, and I’ll stand by it: give me heavy snow, poor visibility, some good googles and helmet and warm clothes. I love being out in stormy snowy conditions—and snow doesn’t arrive thanks to pixies working overnight.

When I hear about people who will only go out on a day like today, I just don’t get it. Visibility is nice, but we need more snow. Much more snow. Those snowpack numbers are pretty scary. Prepare for dirt and stones.

Good snow coming on the 26th?
