Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 473cm

Posted on Wednesday 14th January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Back to snow, after rain and general unpleasantness yesterday. It’s interesting to see that that resulted in more snow at some of the resorts, a reduction in the snowpack elsewhere.

A nice bit of fresh here at the Akakan base area, not a lot yet but things look interesting in about a week.

Maybe the real winter is finally arriving?
