OK good morning from Madarao with news of the first lifts moving at the resort tomorrow. Well, lift actually as they plan to have the Number 1 lift moving and describing the conditions as 'girigiri' which basically means borderline. It will be good to have the first run of the season, but don't expect deep powder just as yet!
It is a beautiful morning here in the region with mostly clear blue skies all around. Snow is due to be falling by the end of the day though and we are expecting heavy snowfall over the weekend along with strong winds.
This is a special 'pre-open' event and lift tickets will be 500 yen tomorrow (Saturday) and 1100 yen on Sunday. The resort then plans to open properly from next weekend.
