Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 374cm

Posted on Sunday 5th February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

There's a bunch of different numbers to report to you this morning - as you can see from the list below.

First prize goes to the 40cm of new snow being reported by Hakuba Goryu. I like the sound of that.

Other ski areas are reporting more modest numbers and there has been around 10cm in base areas; most of that coming down in the evening time with a bit more overnight.

Weather is a mixed bunch as well early on. Lots of cloud and what looks like foggy/gassy conditions on upper areas, but some sun too in lower areas. Maybe things will get clearer.

A clearer start seems very likely tomorrow morning.

Currently about -1C around Happo base.
