Snowfall at base this season 431cm

Wow! What's going on!? I don't know, but I like it!

We have tons of fresh snow across the valley this morning with Happo-one and Goryu both reporting up to 50cm of fresh snowfall, Tsugaike and 47 both reporting 40cm, and Cortina reporting 30-35cm. I can't remember expecting so much.

JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) in central Hakuba is reporting 24cm as of 8am and I have just measured 29cm myself.

And the forecasts still have more incoming showing.

Really can't ask for much more than that.

Visibility is limited this morning.

Excitement is a given in such conditions, but super care needs to be taken too. For people with less experience in particular, it is probably a good day to stay the main runs at the ski areas. There's plenty of fresh snow to enjoy. Avalanche danger level at high.

Take care, folks, and enjoy.
