Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 7cm
Snowfall at base this season 420cm

Posted on Thursday 3rd February 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Hello and good morning from Hakuba.

Yesterday ended up being a mostly just cloudy kind of day but there was a lot of fresh snow to enjoy. This morning ski areas are reporting up to 10cm of snow on the mountain and there's a few+ cm of new snow down at base areas. It's just cloudy for the moment with light snow lingering in places and the sun is also breaking through in places.

It's also quite windy and some lifts are being affected. A bunch of lifts at Happo are not opening at the start of the day including gondola and top lifts. The gondola at Iwatake is also on standby. 47/Goryu seem to be open as normal.

Weekend weather still looking set to be snowy.

The total accumulation number for Tsugaike has... gone done. No idea what's going on there. Pinches of salt, folks.
