Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 221cm

Posted on Monday 30th March 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

What a nice surprise that snow was yesterday. A bank of cloud and fog remained over the mountains during the day yesterday with limited visibility out there, variable depending on location.

It is a grey and overcast morning. We might get to see some breaks in the cloud with more of a chance of that tomorrow along with temperatures warming up once again.

It looks like Hakuba Iwatake is now closed.

Kashimayari plans to be open until Sunday 5th April with two lifts now operating.

The original planned closing date for the remaining 'big 4' is 6th May. Whether they can or not is a big question. It feels... unlikely. But that's just my own guess.
