Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 153cm

Posted on Sunday 29th December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

More snow to report this Sunday morning in Hakuba. Perhaps around 5cm or so in the village, and resorts around the valley reprting 10-20cm on the mountain (as noted in the lists below - keep an eye on those as we will update them every day).

Yesterday was mostly cloudy with snow falling at times and visibility decreasing in the afternoon and heavier snow - that's what happened over at Iwatake anyway, which is where I was. A quick look at the webcams from around the skijo and it looks like a similar story at other places too.

This morning is a different story with beautiful clear blue skies above Hakuba. There's still a layer of cloud hiding the mountain peaks this morning but they'll staying about the resort areas. It's a cold start to the day with temperatures at 9am keeping at around the overnight point of -5C.

Fresh snow overnight, just a slight breeze and fine clear conditions this morning. It should be a very fine day.

New Year holidays means lots of people on the slopes and lively nightlife.
