Lots of lovely fresh snow to report from Hakuba this morning. It started snowing yesterday around mid afternoon and as a result of that continuing overnight we have about 25-30cm or so down in the village. Hakuba Cortina wins in the new snow stakes with up to 35cm reported on their slopes.

It's not that cold though definitely a milder feel to the morning and +1C here in central Hakuba and likely to rise to around 5C. Thick clouds cover the village this morning but hop on the ski lifts and go high up to be treated to some incredible views of that sea of cloud covering the valley and clear blue skies above it. The clouds will probably move on this morning and leave us with a fine day.

It will stay mild tomorrow and rain is forecast for the village. Higher slopes to escape that and it should be snowing everywhere later and the snow clouds will be with us through into mid week. Heavy snow anyone?

So there is lots of new snow to play in this morning - it's not the driest variety, but there should be some fine and very fun conditions to be found out there.

With New Year now just around the corner, expect lifts and slopes to get busier from today.
