Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 7cm
Snowfall at base this season 286cm

Posted on Sunday 27th January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning to you all and here are your Sunday morning headlines; fresh snowfall reported by ski resorts:

Hakuba Cortina: 20+cm (base/top)

Hakuba Happo-one: 20cm top of Riesen quad

Hakuba Iwatake: 20cm

Hakuba Goryu: 10-25cm

Hakuba 47: 10cm

Not as much down in the village and honestly I was hoping and expecting more impressive numbers than that. But still, 20cm or so on the slopes is always welcome and conditions should be good this morning as temperatures remain low. And the forecasts still show some pretty regular snowfall over the coming week - in particular later tomorrow and then from Thursday onwards.

At the time of writing the top Grat and Alpen quad lifts at Happo-one are on hold, but as far as I can tell all other resorts are open as normal.

As you can see from the webcam images below, visibility is variable this morning on the mountains. Good in places, poor in others. The sun is shining through clouds outside my place now and there's quite a lot of blue sky over the village. Should be a fine day. Before that snow moves in again later on tomorrow, the day should be starting off with some sun again.

Have a great Sunday.
