Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 277cm

Posted on Thursday 26th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Yesterday it was cold and snowy up on them there mountains. Wrapped up well and prepared for it, there was some great snow conditions to enjoy.

It is snowing lightly at base just now, though the cloud isn't thick and I can see the shape of the sun behind some of the clouds. Should be another good morning with ski areas reporting 10cm or so of fresh on upper areas.

With snow due to set in tomorrow night and overnight into Saturday, there should be a further fresh layer for weekend visitors to enjoy.
