Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 426cm

Posted on Saturday 25th February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

Yesterday remained grey for pretty much all of the day. This morning it is snowing lightly with ski areas reporting up to 5cm at higher elevations. Just a dusting+ around base areas.

It is snowing but there's also some blue sky around, so it's not 'full-on'. Snow is forecast for the day in the mountains, though, so let's see how much more we can get.

Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be clear, sunny and mild.

Someone asked about how I choose which webcam image to show. No rules. I just try to choose what I feel is best each morning. Depending on the weather and what can be seen, etc. It is just a decision I make each morning after seeing what is available.
