Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 561cm

Posted on Sunday 24th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

Snow showing in this report is from yesterday morning since the report was posted. It was coming down nicely for a while there, even at base. (And, just to be clear, that's not showing up in any of the reported numbers from the ski areas this morning, even though many snow depth numbers have increased since yesterday). (Sigh mumble grumble.)

Anyway! I wonder if that will be the last decent delivery of snow this season?

Maybe not, with something possible around Tuesday. The general trend, though, seems to be rising temps across the next week and beyond. And that is not unreasonable considering the date!

Forecasts for today are generally cloud with some sun and that's what we have just now.

Today is the last day of the season for the Hakuba Iwatake and Kashimayari ski areas. (Sanosaka is going to continue for another week). All planned closing dates are noted in the list below.
