Good morning.
Ah, fresh snow overnight! Don't you just love it.
This morning resorts are reporting around 5cm in base areas and some rather varying amounts from upper areas, the most being reported by Happo-one (25cm at Kurobishi). The Tsugaike guys are reporting 30-40cm in wind-blown areas; icy in others.
So yes, wind is an issue this morning. Unfortunately it is stopping the gondola and top areas of Happo-one to be open - so early morning at least we can't get up to that fresh snow. Other resorts appear to be opening as normal though there may be some slower-than-usual lift speeds.
I have measured 7cm in my place and backed that up with a few other measurements around base here.
Great to see fresh snow. Some may find conditions rather challenging today, but tomorrow clearer skies and sunshine is forecast so should be a good day. It's a holiday for many too.
Keep on snowing please. Take care and enjoy!
