Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 43cm

Posted on Sunday 1st December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

After all that excitement of yesterday morning (and during the day), I felt really tired this morning. I only managed about 90 minutes up at Goryu, but it was so great to be back on the snow and be able to enjoy such conditions in November.

Just a little more snow really since that report yesterday and there is no further cm overnight.

We have a lot of cloud around but there's blue sky too. A fine morning, for now anyway.

Today is the first day of operations for Hakuba 47, but it's important to note that the base of that ski area is not actually open yet. Don't go there! The top lift that is open (Line E) is accessed via Hakuba Goryu. Effectively, best to think of it as just being part of Goryu for now.

Sun is forecast for tomorrow and it will be getting fairly warm too. The next chance of decent snow is probably late in the coming week.

Someone asked why the lift ticket at Goryu is 7,500 yen (which is a fair bit more than the others). It's a fair question.

After careful thought, I suppose they just want more money!
