Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 18cm
Snowfall at base this season 138cm

Posted on Sunday 17th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

A very good morning to you from Hakuba.

Quickly forgetting the bit of rain we got before it turned into the good stuff, I have good snow news this morning!

My headline is 18cm of fresh here at base, and here is how much fresh snow the resorts are reporting this morning (* information that I can find):

Hakuba Goryu: 10-35cm

Hakuba 47: 20-50cm

Hakuba Cortina: 20-30cm

Hakuba Happo-one: 17cm (base)

There's some good numbers there - top areas in particular should be in very good shape this morning.

More of the Happo-one resort is open now with further lower runs opening up. Note that the top quad is not yet operating. Oh, and it seems that the Skyline Number 2 pair lift has some issues early on.

We're expecting the snow to clear up sometime today and might get to see some sunshine later on and tomorrow morning -- before more snow comes by the end of tomorrow into Tuesday.

Enjoy!
