Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 508cm

Posted on Thursday 14th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning (just!) Hakuba-loving friends.

Anyone have fun the last few days? I think a fair few people say a big yes to that!

Just a little more fresh snow being reported from across the mountains since yesterday.

We had a fine start with some cloud and a lot of blue sky. It has been gradually clouding over since then and while it is not (or hardly) snowing around base areas just now, there is snow falling at higher elevations.

Weather (specifically wind) is being blamed for the stopped top (and a few more) lifts at Happo-one this morning. Other ski areas seem to be open as normal.

Tomorrow might be more clearly clear and sunny. (Kind of thought we were expecting that today, but...)
