Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 18cm

Posted on Wednesday 14th December 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

There was some snow falling yesterday morning down in the village, though it didn't last long and it got a bit wet at times. But this morning I am happy to report that we have some proper snow!

First up, here's what is being reported by the ski areas:

- Goryu: 25cm top

- Hakuba 47: 25cm top, 20cm lower

- Happo-one: 45cm (Usagidaira), 35cm (top of gondola)

As much as 45cm fresh at Usagidaira? Very impressive. (Hope it's not a typo!)

I need to post early today and can't see any changes to ski area operations just yet, apart from Tsugaike not opening as planned due to strong winds.

I should have more to report tomorrow. :)
