Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate
New snowfall at base
7cm
Snowfall at base this season 1306cm
Posted on Saturday 8th March 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.
Some heavy (weight not the way it fell!) snow yesterday with almost 20cm reported by the ski area. Less than 10cm down at base.
Doesn't feel windy at the start of the day and it is quite bright. Looks like it will be a mix of thin cloud and some blue sky today.
Sun is definitely due tomorrow and Monday and temps are going to be in low positive numbers in the coming week.
We are probably at that stage of the season when any fresh snow (and we will surely get it) should be seen as a bonus.
Scheduled ski area operations:
All courses should be available apart from B2 with some other restrictions
Tree run courses open: Unconfirmed
Official snow depth (reported by the ski area):
405cm (top)
250cm (base)
Cumulative snowfall this season (reported by the ski area):
2280cm
Other information:
The Number 2 Gondola is operating at the moment while the quad lift is closed (until 14th March)
Spring season is officially from Monday 24th March when operations are Number 1 Gondola and the Number 1 and 2 pair lifts
