Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate

New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this season 1267cm

Posted on Sunday 26th February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Geto Kogen.

This morning an interesting set of numbers. About 15cm down at base, but the ski area is reporting 37cm higher up. This kind of difference, I feel, happens more and more as the spring season approaches (hopefully not 'here' yet!)

The snow stopped in the evening yesterday but started up again overnight.

The forecast for the day is snow and just cloudy at times. Early on very limited visibility; hopefully that will improve.

Clearer skies are due from tomorrow for a few days.

Snowfall statistics (as reported by the ski area):

New snowfall (top): 40cm

Current snow depth (top): 400cm

Current snow depth (base): 270cm
