Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate
New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 78cm
Posted on Thursday 21st November 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.
Morning from Geto and the good news continues with 20cm of fresh snowfall to report at base.
The official snow depths (compacted snow on the courses) now stands at 30cm-55cm and the resort is opening from this morning.
At first they will open A1-A2 courses but there is a chance of more opening beyond that... dependent on patrol.
Excellent.
(Less excellent is that there might be some spots of rain today as it is a little warmer, hopefully that will hold off; clearer weather forecast for tomorrow).
-------
Had to laugh, my google translate converted 'Geto Kogen' into 'summer oil plateau' which I suppose is a literal translation of the kanji. Perhaps I should call it that from now on... just kidding.
-------
Official snow depths:
* Top: 55cm
* Base: 30cm
Courses & Tree Runs - subject to change due to weather:
* A1-A2 courses starting things off
* All tree runs closed
