Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate

New snowfall at base 25cm
Snowfall at base this season 112cm

Posted on Wednesday 14th December 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.

Things can change very quickly. Take yesterday and this morning as a good example.

It was raining on and off until evening yesterday, and heavy at times, but it eventually turned into snow. And this morning the ski area reports an impressive 40cm of fresh snow on the upper areas. There's 25cm down at base too. Nice!

Snow is forecast for the day today and tomorrow too. Expect some big numbers.

By the way, I am trying to find out when they clear the snow on the '24 hour snowfall' image that I will try to post in my reports. I'll let you know when I get an answer.

Snowfall statistics (as reported by the ski area):
