Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate

New snowfall at base 25cm
Snowfall at base this season 758cm

Posted on Tuesday 10th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Geto.

Yesterday was fairly calm and a day of light snow and cloud. There has been more snow overnight but it's due to stop and leave us with a mostly cloudy day. Limited visibility just at the moment but there's a good new layer of fresh snow out there.

I saw on the news that Japan as a whole is heading into a mild few days up to at least Saturday. We won't be able to escape that and temps might be getting up to around 6C or 7C on Saturday at base. Beyond today there will surely be a few days without fresh snow.

Hopefully we will be able to return to more winter-like cold from Sunday.
