Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 536cm

Posted on Sunday 8th March 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Pretty much the same conditions as yesterday, but it's not snowing. Bit of new snow overnight, but it's just snow, not powder.

Very windy on top, forcing many lift closures. Ropeway is open, but 1+ hour lines.

The wind is forecast to drop to "normal" levels tomorrow, so more lifts should be open tomorrow.

Think snow. Think calm.
