Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido
New snowfall at base 41cm
Snowfall at base this season 69cm
Posted on Friday 30th November 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.
The snow started last night and came down heavily through until morning. This morning there was 41cm of fresh snow on the ground in the village and the resort reported 48cm at the top of the ropeway. The snow was relatively heavy and was just exactly what was needed to bulk up the base. This is the first significant snowfall of the season at village level. Although nice and sunny through the day the temperatures were cold and this allowed the resort to really blast the snowmakers on the lower slopes to give nature a helping hand. Hopefully this new snow is enough for the resort to open up a run down to the base on the Furano Zone tomorrow.
Furano Zone is open with Furano Ropeway for uplifting/down lifting only. The skiable trails are Shirakaba and upper Sailer, with the Downhill 2 chair servicing those trails.
Furano Zone partially open.
Kitanomine Zone closed.
