Yes, Furano is still open and will operate thru May 6, the official end of Golden Week.
If you want to get your Spring Skiing on, Furano is one of the places you can do it in Hokkaido. It's been a relatively cool spring so the snow pack is in pretty good condition.
If you've never been skiing in late spring, you're missing out. Absolutely NO people, cheap tickets, totally mellow atmosphere, and much warmer than the middle of winter. Spring snow is also great, allowing you to try and get away with stuff you just can't in the winter. Great chance to work on your technique.
There has been 1-2 cm of new snow that last few days up on top. That is significant as it shows it's been cold enough to not be a slush fest up on the mountain.
