Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 429cm

Posted on Saturday 15th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Good morning Skiers & Boarders,

Another nice chunk of snow overnight, and of decent quality. I'm excited that it was a number different than 7 or 11! Yeah! If we could only have 12 cm or more every day, I'm sure many of the world's problems could be solved.

Tomorrow is the Children's Snow Festival at the base of the Furano Zone, near the Prince Hotel Bakery. There are several fun events for kids 12 & under, from 1-2:00 PM. The kids will win some prizes, guaranteed. Free, free, free.

Now for the bad news. Tomorrow's weather report looks positively dismal: High of +5 C(!), with r@!n in the afternoon. It will be down to -12 C tonight, so if you want to ski tomorrow, make it in the morning, and be ready to duck out if the r@!n materializes. Heavy sigh.

Think snow AND cold.

* Furano Zone Lift B (aka Furano Quad) is closed for the season due to mechanical failure. New braking mechanism must be fabricated.**

Furano Zone: All except Lift B.

Kitanomine: All lifts open.

Regular lifts closing at 3:50 PM

Night skiing until 7:30 PM tonight on both sides.
