The Chuo Expressway is one of the major expressways of Japan, connecting the Tokyo and Nagoya areas.
The Tomei Expresswayshares generally similar start and end regions, but that expressway follows a coastal route. In contrast, the Chuo Expressway follows an inland route into the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture and Gifu Prefecture.
At Okada JCT the Chuo Expressway connects with the Nagano Expressway and from there heads north towards many of the famous ski and snowboard resort areas in Nagano and beyond.
