Onogawa is a small ski hill located in Yonezawa city in the south-western region of Yamagata Prefecture. This ski hill is closed on Mondays and available for private reservations on other weekdays. Apparently there is a 'human curling' event on 23rd February 2020!
Yamagata Prefecture is located in the south-west part of Tohoku with the west coast facing the Sea of Japan. The boundaries of Yamagata Prefecture are all mountainous with Niigata Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture to the south, Akita Prefecture to the north and Miyagi Prefecture to the east. The ski and snowboard ski hills in Yamagata range from very small one-lift local hills to the biggest individual ski resort in Japan (Zao Onsen) and are spread across the Prefecture.

Onogawa is located by the side of Prefecture Road 235 to the west of central Yonezawa city.
It is just over 11km from the Yonezawa Kita IC exit on the Yonezawa Nanyo Road.
From the IC exit turn right and after about 350m turn left onto Route 121. After about 6.5km keep going straight on as the road changes to Prefecture Road 233. 2km later the road changes to Prefecture Road 234. Onogawa is about 2.5km along Prefecture Road 234 on the left hand side of the road.
