Takayanagi Garuru is a small ski hill serviced by one 424m long pair lift. It is the only ski hill located in Kashiwazaki city in Niigata Prefecture, to the north west of Tokamachi. The full name of this ski hill is actually 'Takayanagi Garuru-no-suki-jo' which seems rather awkward. English information on this ski hill is pretty non-existent and we have heard different opinions from Niigata folk on the name, but let us know if we are listing it incorrectly. We'll go with 'Takayanagi Garuru' for now!

Niigata Prefecture is located in the central region of Honshu to the north of Tokyo and has a 250km long coastline facing the Sea of Japan. Convenient transportation links make Niigata very easy to get to from Tokyo and other surrounding regions. There are over 50 ski and snowboard resorts in Niigata Prefecture, ranging from small one-lift hills to some of the most well-known and popular ski resorts in Japan. While they are dotted around the mountains of the prefecture, most are concentrated in the southern regions - in particular the Yuzawa town and Minamiuonuma city area in the Chuetsu region and Myoko city in the Joetsu region.
