Japan ski resort news: Shirao (Gifu)

Gujo, Gifu Prefecture

Shirao closes

Shirao is located in the northern area of Gujo city and to the south of the other popular ski resorts in that region of Gifu Prefecture.

On 29th June 2018 it was announced that after 17 years of operation, Shirao resort would not be opening for the 2018-2019 season.

Shirao had four pair lifts and two single lifts with a longest course of 3,000m and a steepest slop of 38 degrees. It was pretty convenient coming off the Shirotori IC exit of the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway coming from the Gifu and Nagoya regions.

It seems like the strategy of offering really cheap weekday tickets last season did not help enough.

There does not seem to be any news or hints as to what might happen to the facilities from now on.

We'll keep an eye on it!
