Japan ski resort news: Muikamachi Hakkaisan (Niigata)

Muikamachi Hakkaisan
Niigata Prefecture

Muikamachi Hakkaisan is located on the western slopes of Mt Hakkai in the northern region of Minamiuonuma city in Niigata Prefecture.

During the 2018-2019 season Muikamachi Hakkaisan will celebrate its 35th Anniversary. To celebrate, on days that include the number 3 and 5, a one day lift ticket with a 1,000 yen voucher to use at the resort will cost 3,500 yen.

But the news that we find most interesting is that this season the Number 2 lift will operate daily - in recent seasons it had only opened on weekends and holidays (which was always somewhat disappointing)

Muimamachi Hakkaisan is popular for long and challenging mogul courses and also some smoother intermediate cruising style courses. The main 81 person capacity Ropeway which regularly goes from close-to base to the top of the resort moves at quite some speed and is a sight to see - it looks like it is playing on fast-forward!
