Koumi Re-Ex Ski Valley is located about in Koumi town in the central eastern region of Nagano Prefecture. It is located on the eastern side of the mountain range from the other resorts in the nearby region.
There are six lifts at this resort - 1 quad, 4 pairs and one 'cable car' which is like a short funicular railway that connects the base with the hotel by side of the lower slopes. If you have a valid 1 day ticket for nearby Chateraise Resort Yatsugatake, you can pay a little extra to get a one day or half day ticket for Koumi Re-Ex.
On weekdays from 20th January 2020 (and daily from 1st March), 'new winter sports' will be allowed on the Number 2 and 5 lifts (E, F and L courses). It seems this will include items that you can ride on other than skis and snowboards, including what they are calling 'snow drive'...
There are a number of ski and snowboard resorts scattered around the mountainous area that stretches from Kirigamine highland and Kurumayama to the north, over to Lake Shirakaba and Mt Tateshina a little further to the east and then Mt Yokodake and the Yatsugatake mountain range further south. This region usually gets a relatively large amount of clearer weather conditions and does not usually receive as much snow as other highland areas. The region is part of the Yatsugatake Chushin Kogen Quasi-National Park and is a popular tourist destination throughout the year. The famous Venus Line sightseeing road runs through the area.
Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. Most of the Northern Alps, Central Alps and Southern Alps are located within Nagano (along with neighbouring prefectures). Nagano has the second highest number of ski and snowboard resorts in all of Japan and they are spread around the whole prefecture. Nagano city and many of the major ski resorts are located in the northern region.
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Koumi Re-Ex Ski Valley. There is also a special Freestyle Ski School.
Ski and snowboard equipment rental is available. Ski and snowboard wear rental is also available.
The 'Kids Park' is located in front of the Resort Centre - entry is 500 yen. There is also a sledging course for children and a special children practice slope area.
There are a variety of Park areas at Koumi Re-Ex Ski Valley for different skill levels - including the 'Rail Park' and a mogul run area.
