Ibi Kogen is located to the north west of central Ibigawa town in the south-western region of Gifu Prefecture. It is only one of two ski hills in this southern region of Gifu, the other being
Kunimidake.
Unfortunately, Ibi Kogen was not able to open for one day during the 2019-2020 season due to lack of snowfall. Since then there has been news that it would be closing for good, though the official website is still up there. More updates if we hear any more.
Gifu Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the central region of Honshu island, and it one of only a handful of landlocked prefectures. It shares borders with (from the north) Toyama, Nagano, Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Fukui and Ishikawa. Most of the ski and snowboard resorts in Gifu are located in the northern region of the prefecture – in Gujo city, Takayama city, Hida city and Shirakawa village.
