Hoshino Resort Urabandai Nekoma - often known as simply Urabandai Nekoma - is located on the north-western slopes of Mt Bandai in Kita Shiobara village, Fukushima Prefecture. In winter the Gold Line toll road connecting this area of Kita Shiobara village with Bandai town is closed and so the roads going round the east side of the mountain need to be used. The upper part of the Alts Bandai resort is actually rather close to the upper part of Alts Bandai on the other side of the mountain, but they are not lift or course connected. However they are owned by the same company and a joint lift ticket and shuttle bus service between the two is available.
Hoshino Resort Urabandai Nekoma is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 16th January and 28th February 2018. Otherwise, open daily.
Fukushima Prefecture is composed of three main regions - the Hamadori region to the east (including the Pacific Ocean coastline), the Nakadori region (the central area) and the Aizu region (the Western mountainous region). Many of the ski and snowboard resorts in the prefecture are found on or near Mt Bandai and Mt Adatara to the north of Lake Inawashiro. Most of the others can be found scattered across the western region of the Aizu region or to the south-west of Lake Inawashiro.
A shuttle bus operates from Inawashiro Station to Hoshino Resort Urabandai Nekoma.

Hoshino Resort Urabandai Nekoma is just under 23km from the Inawashiro Bandai Kogen IC exit of the Banetsu Expressway.

After 3.5km branch off to the left onto Pref Road 2 (look for the sign on the left hand side) and continue on that road for about 4.5km until reaching Route 459. Turn left onto Route 459 and continue for about 12.5km - with Lake Hibara on the right side - until reaching a road sign for Urabandai Nekoma (written on the sign as just Nekoma). Turn left onto this road to head to the resort base.

2018-2019 SKI RESORT INFORMATION UPDATES
As the 2018-2019 winter season approaches, we are gradually updating the information on these pages (for every ski resort in Japan).
Many ski resorts in Japan do not update their own information until late autumn. Our process of updating information will be ongoing right through until the end of November. In the meantime, ski resorts usually open and close around the same dates each year - so even if the planned season dates shown on this page are still from the 18-18 season, they can be used as a good indication of the upcoming season.
For more details and explanations about the information presented on this page,
please read this.
It is very important to us that the information presented on SnowJapan is correct and up-to-date. Checks and updates are made throughout the year. If you find information that you feel needs checking and updating, please let us know by contacting us. We appreciate your support.
