Hoshino Resort Alts Bandai - often known as the original name 'Alts Bandai' - is located on the south-western slopes of Mt Bandai in Bandai town. Alts Bandai is relatively new, only opening in 1992. Fine views of the nearby Lake Inawashiro can be enjoyed from the resort. The upper part of the Urabandai Nekoma resort is actually rather close to the upper part of Alts Bandai on the other side of the mountain, but they are not lift or course connected. However they are owned by the same company and a joint lift ticket and shuttle bus service between the two is available. Apparently 'Alts' comes from 'Aer - Lux - Terra - Sol'.
There are five different Snow Parks areas on the slopes of Alts Bandai during the 2018-2019 season.
Many of the ski and snowboard resorts in the prefecture are found on or near Mt Bandai and Mt Adatara to the north of Lake Inawashiro and the region is generally known as Aizu. The other ski hills can be found scattered across the western region or to the south-west of Lake Inawashiro.
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Alts Bandai.
Ski and snowboard equipment rental is available. Ski and snowboard wear rental is also available.
There are 2 'Kids Parks' at Alts Bandai, both near the base and one with a snow escalator - both free to enter.
There are 5 Snow Park areas at Alts Bandai:
- Step Up Park for Beginners (early January until late March) - Step Up Park (early January until late March) - Monster Park (late January until late February) - Global Park (early February until late February) - Nagaseru Park (mid January until late March)

At the time of writing more than 60% of the ski hills in Japan have still not updated their own information for the upcoming season. We are continuing to manually update the information on these ski resort pages of SnowJapan but for the moment things are unavoidably a mix of old and new. In most cases ski resorts open and close around the same dates each season, so even if the planned season dates shown on this page are still from the 2017-2018 season, that is usually a good indication of what to expect this time round.
