Karigahara is a small ski hill located just a few kilometres from the central area of Katsuyama city in the north eastern region of Fukui Prefecture. The larger Ski Jam Katsuyama resort is close by.

Fukui Prefecture is in the Chubu region of central Japan, facing the Sea of Japan. It borders Ishikawa to the north, Gifu to the east and Kyoto and Shiga to the south. Most of the ski hills in Fukui Prefecture are found in the north eastern region to the east of the capital, Fukui city.

From the Fukui Kita IC expressway exit, take Route 416 to head into Katsuyama.

There is a car park for 1,200 vehicles at the base of Karigahara. Parking is free on weekdays and 500 yen for cars on weekends and holidays.
