I'd easily give this resort 5 stars if it weren't for the patrol. The trees are some of the best in Japan and there is almost always deep powder off the runs.
I have skied at this resort on and off for 2 seasons and have been caught more than 4 or 5 times. Sticking just to the cut runs there isn't much to this resort for the advanced skier. It would get boring really quick.
This hill is found in the town of Hirayu Onsen on Route 158 in the Eastern part of Hida in Gifu-ken. It is also on the Northern flanks of Mount Norikura and just south of Yakedake and the Abo Pass. The base elevation is 1300 metres with the top elevation being 1800 metres. This elevation usually gives the resort very good dry snow. As it is just a small locally run hill the lift tickets are cheap and next to
This ski hill is located on the Murodo Plain in the Tateyama area.
To get to it you have to either come from Nagano or Toyama Prefectures. It is expensive coming from either side although much cheaper from Toyama. Just over 4000 yen round trip. Private vehicles are not permitted. The lift serviced vertical is about 100 metres and is serviced by a difficult rope tow. Painful for skiers and difficult for snowboarders.
