Kurumayama Kogen review
My first day boarding in Japan and the weather was perfect. I think it snowed 2 nights before and there was still loads of untracked pow pow. We did about 2 runs on piste and the rest was under the ropes which the lifties were cool about. Good steep stuff up top BUT....

Its a bit boring for more than half a day. There were no jumps, no halfpipe and no rails. The snow conditions made up for it but a second day there would get monotonous. Well worth the Y3900 for a budget trip (bus and ticket) from Tokyo (Alpico Tours..get the brochure from the train stations). They didnt ask for the ticket all day so I reckon you could probably get away without one if you were that way inclined.

My mate said the Prince Resort which faces Kurumayama was more interesting with rails, hits and a pipe.

The beers were a bit steep too so bring your own. The bottom half is perfect for beginner intermediates.

All up a fantastic first day (despite injuries) but I'll be checking somewhere else next.
Date visited: From 16 January, 2004
Snow condition on visit: 20cm fresh
Things I liked: No Queues, perfect weather, powder, steep
Things I didn't like: No Jumps, rails, halfpipe, tree runs... bit boring
