Inawashiro is just off the Banetsu expressway, and is two resorts in one. The older resort is challenging, with steep upper runs but plenty for beginners too. I have been three or four times, and it always challenges me differently. The newer part of the resort is great for learners, but also has a kind of Super-G course too - piling down that was excellent.

The snow park hasn't got a half pipe this year, but there is a big jump, a couple of rails and a table top - although they do shut it at about 2pm.

In Fukushima, it is one of the most accessible and nicest places around, and is pretty popular with local gaijin too.
Date visited: From January, 2003
Snow condition on visit: Good; a foot of fresh and well groomed.
Things I liked: Easy access, many runs, fast lifts.
Things I didn't like: Lots of ski school
