Ski Jam can be fun on after a snow storm, when there is some coverage of fresh snow. There's a few places to climb up 50-70 meters off piste, good for turns or making a kicker. However, I recommend going very early when there are big crowds -- i.e. a holiday weekend. Two of us drove up to a full parking lot around 8:45 on a sunday morning. When the lot, which is at the top of the service road outside of Katsuyama, Fukui-ken, fills up, they don't let people in. We got turned around half-way up the service road. We ended up at another resort for the day, and got in early to Ski Jam the next day.
