We went to this resort as part of marketing promotion for westerners as other Asian nations no longer go there due to its location (Fukushima prefecture). This is a very Japanese style resort. In fact since I first skied in Japan 12 years ago, this resort has the least amount of non Japanese skiers. Spotting a westerner is a rare event.
What the Chinese and Koreans who used to come and the westerners, who haven't fount it yet, for us was just superb. The runs are long enough. You can ski over 3.5 klms from top of Gondola to the base, although mostly on green runs. If you went to the top via 2 hooded quad lifts then you include a choice of intermediate with a little black runs as well.
There are variable ways to descent the mountain and at varies stages choices to go intermediate most of the way or a choice of intermediate/beginner or just follow the mellow green runs. These vary (speed) quite a bit due to snow conditions. One issue during our visit was the amount of snow (approaching 3.5 metres) in that it's not possible just to ski off the chairlifts and you have to climb a little due the excess snow depth. Japan haven't invented a top station elevation variation device yet!
The resort seems to be full of learner snow boarders but as they spend most of their time stationary its easy to use them as "poles" and make a slalom course to your liking!
The resort also has some tree runs (groomed) which for us a basic intermediate skiers were great.
Has two restaurants, one at top of Gondola (didn't use) and a larger one at the base. Has plently of eating options. Our choice was Sun Hamburgers in the far corner. Unfortunately that is closed Wednesday, Thursday.
Also on Saturday when you do get more crowds, they put on extra chairs to the 4 covered quad chairlifts. The only real queue of any length was the Gondola about mid morning on the Saturday.
In summary a great place to ski, but if you are looking for jumps well look elsewhere.
