Fun in the trees
Final day of a week in Hokkaido with my sons. This was my 2nd time to Rusutsu and it again did not disappoint. The snow depth seemed a bit less than Niseko but was still fun. My boys liked it a lot as well. Best part is skiing the trees then dumping out on to a groomer to get back to a lift - no hiking required!
Date visited: From 03 February, 2017 To 03 February, 2017
Snow condition on visit: Powder
Things I liked: Tree powder runs. Easy off-piste return to lifts. No lift lines. Few (if any) weather closures since all below tree line runs. More Japanese than international crowd. Very good lift infrastructure.
Things I didn't like: Long time to get to the smaller mountain opposite the road via gondola, so I still haven't tried it.
